Resting in God...

Its been a while since I posted.  I hope that you all are still around.  In case you don't know, I am still here in Uganda, fighting to get my kids home.  This has been a journey of much learning and growing in God for me.  The last week and a bit has had some highs and lows and I have found myself "resting in God".  This phrase has always been in my heart and mind but it just seems so much more real here to me then ever before in my life.

Its seems that EVERY time I pick up my Bible, God is speaking directly to me, right here, right now.  Never before has the Word been so alive, so real, so personal to me.  When I can't sleep (which is VERY often here) I find myself picking up my Bible just to "hear" what God wants me to right then.  Even though I am missing out on physical sleep, I am getting the much needed "rest" I need directly from my Father above.  I can start the day "rested" even though I may have only actually slept for a few hours.  God is AWESOME in sustaining me.  He rejuvenates me, fills me, feeds me and yes, even gives me the "rest" I need to keep going.

I am praying for things to come to a close SOON.  I am praying that the visas come QUICKLY.  I am praying that my family be reunited ASAP.  I am praying for all of this just be be FINISHED.  While I am doing that, I am RESTING in God!

Persistence...

I have been looking for this passage for a while now, and today I found it.  It was what I needed to hear again.

Luke 18

The Parable of the Persistent Widow

1Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2He said: "In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men. 3And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, 'Grant me justice against my adversary.'
4"For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, 'Even though I don't fear God or care about men, 5yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won't eventually wear me out with her coming!' "

6And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"

Continuing to fight, pray and be persistent...

Happy Birthday James!!!

Well, I am an ocean away from my husband.  It is his birthday today (Ugandan time).... tomorrow for all us North Americans.  I feel completely helpless in helping celebrate him on his special day.  We never imagined we would still be apart.... I didn't plan any surprises in his suitcase for this day!  So, I am asking you to help me.... send my James a birthday message and encourage him as he continues on fighting for our children to come home.

James, you are my hero.  I love you more than words could ever say.  You are an amazing example of what love is supposed to look like.  You have given up so much to be in Uganda to bring  Kaysia and Zeke home to their forever family.  You selflessly give of yourself daily to help others.  You are the most amazing husband, father and friend.... I am so blessed to be called your wife.  I so wish I could be there to celebrate with you.  We are going to have the biggest party e.v.e.r when you get home with our sweet babies.  So today is your birthday (in Uganda) but we will celebrate it again when you get home!  I love you with my whole heart and miss you.  Thank you for doing what you are doing....  Happy Birthday to you my James...  Love you forever!  Cher

More Pics From Uganda...

It's been a bit since I put a pic of the kids up here, so I thought I would give you a couple to see us playing on the swings.  It was a good day again today.  Church was good, lunch was good, company was good.  I even got a massage from a GREAT masseuse (anyone in Marion, Indiana should look her up!)  After the kids had a nap, we played and had some fun.  Here's the pics.

Stress Relief

You know, there is just something SO amazing about going out to Ssenge, to African Hearts, and playing with the boys, harvesting and shucking corn, hearing some amazingly talented young men sing and dancing "like no one's watching" with kids whose joy just flows through their very being.  Today, that was exactly what I needed and God knew it.  So thankful for the HUGE blessings He gives me daily here (and every day, no matter where I am).

I truly believe that when I am helping others, blessing others, the blessing I receive is SO much more.  People keep thanking me for doing this and that and I just feel like "don't thank me, it really was nothing and a HUGE blessing for me!"  Funny how that works when you are just doing what God calls you to do.

Anyway, it was a GREAT day am I am thankful I got to experience it with my new friends from the US.  I think it was a blessing to them as well.

Blessings to you all from Uganda,

Renewed...

Have you ever just started reading the Bible and not been able to put it down?  Have you ever felt like a particular verse, passage or group of passages were written just for you to hear?

I love reading my Bible and know that it is an important part of my walk with God.  Today, I couldn't put it down!  I just kept reading and God just kept speaking to me.  So many of the words I read felt like they were written just for me, for this time, for this place I am in right now.  The feeling is AMAZING.  I feel SO filled with the spirit right now, so at peace, so confident that God is working to bring this whole matter to a resolution.  I felt like God told David that I would need these words right now, right here and for this very moment.  My heart soared as I read on and on.

So, to encourage you all and to hopefully have some (or all) of these passages speak to you in whatever you are doing right now, I want to write the references here for you to read.  I started reading at the beginning of Psalms last week and just feel like they ALL speak to me.  Have you read the Psalms lately?  You should!  I reread from the beginning again today and then continued from where I was, Psalm 9.  I read through to Psalm 23 and feel like when I go back to my room I want to reread it all again and continue beyond, that's how uplifting it was to me!!  Anyways, here are some key verses/passages I want to highlight for you:

Psalm 10:14-18 - But you, O God, do see trouble and grief; you consider it to take it in hand. The victim commits himself to you; you are the helper of the fatherless.  Break the arm of the wicked and evil man; call him to account for his wickedness that would not be found out. The LORD is King for ever and ever; the nations will perish from his land. You hear, O LORD, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed, in order that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more.

Psalm 16: 5-6 - LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.

Psalm 18:28-29 - You, O LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.

Those are just a few of the verses that stood out to me.  I seriously would encourage you to read through the first 23 Psalms (and beyond) again!  I know God used it to feed me, fill me and lift me up today!

Still FIGHTING in Uganda, and NOT giving up!

Prayer and Fasting...

I don't know exactly what to say but know that some of you might read about this on other blogs and I wanted to tell you here as well so we can get as many people praying and/or fasting for this as possible.

We need you to pray!!  Pray that the judge will see us tomorrow.  Pray that she will add 3 sentences to our orders.  Pray that she will do this quickly and pray that the High Commission will FINALLY be satisfied with everything they have put us through.  Our visas hinge on all of this!  Pray that the other judges in the family court will do the same for the orders they have issued or will issue.  This is no longer just a Canadian issue for adoptions in Uganda.  The US embassy is following the HC's lead and requiring the legal guardianship order wording to be changed as well.  This effects ALL North Americans trying to adopt from Uganda now and in the future.  We need to pray for this and get this done NOW or adoptions from Uganda by North Americans will be forever effected.  Please join us in praying and fasting.

FUN!!

Two posts in one day!

School was SO fun today that I just had to post some great pics.  The kids had a BLAST in the tubs and it was a great way to cool off from the HEAT that we had today.  So fun even for the adults to be in the middle of the splashing and playing.  Taking pictures was an adventure and I ended up with soaking wet shorts, but on the plus side, I was cooled off too!  Enjoy!

The set-up before the kids                                             Let the fun begin!
Do you think he likes to splash?

Her goal was to get me as wet as possible!

Priceless memories were made and captured today.  So glad that I was there for it!  Thank you Jesus for even the simple blessings of splashing in the water on a HOT day.
